HAIR REMOVAL
Candela GentleMax Pro Plus®
Dual-wavelength platform for permanent hair reduction across all skin types. The standard of care in laser hair removal.
Technology
Wavelengths
755 nm Alexandrite
1064 nm Nd: YAG
Cooling system
Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) — cryogenic spray delivered milliseconds before each pulse
Spot sizes
6 mm - 26 mm, including large-area applicator for faster sessions on the body
Indications
Primary
Permanent hair reduction
Additional uses
Vascular lesions, pigmented lesions, pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB), leg and spider veins
Skin types
Fitzpatrick I – VI. The 1064 nm wavelength is selected for deeper Fitzpatrick types to reduce epidermal absorption risk.
Sessions
Sessions required
Typically 6-8 sessions, spaced 4-8 weeks apart depending on body area and hair cycle
Downtime
None. Mild redness for 24-48 hours is normal.
Operator protocol
Parameters are set per session based on skin type, hair color, and treatment area. No two sessions are configured identically.
Alexandrite wavelength
The Alexandrite wavelength targets melanin in lighter to medium skin tones with precision and speed. The Nd:YAG penetrates deeper and bypasses surface melanin, making it the right choice for deeper skin tones. Your operator selects wavelength and fluence at each session — not a preset.

TATTOO REMOVAL
Candela PicoWay®
Picosecond laser platform for tattoo removal and pigmentation. Pulses 100× shorter than older Q-switched technology — more ink shattered, less heat delivered.
Technology
Indications
Sessions
Wavelengths
1064 nm, 785 nm, 730 nm, 532 nm
Pulse duration
Picosecond range (trillionths of a second) — 100× shorter than nanosecond Q-switched lasers
Mechanism
Photoacoustic shockwave shatters ink particles into dust-sized fragments. The body's lymphatic system clears them over the following weeks.
Tattoo removal
Black, grey, red, orange, blue, and green inks. The 730 nm wavelength specifically targets blue and green.
Pigmentation
Benign pigmented lesions, melasma, sunspots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Skin types
Fitzpatrick I – VI. Wavelength selection varies by ink color, lesion depth, and skin tone.
Sessions required
Variable. Factors include ink density, color range, age of tattoo, skin type, and immune response. Most tattoos require 6 – 12 sessions.
Downtime
Mild frosting immediately post-session, redness and minor swelling for 1 – 3 days.
FDA clearance
Cleared for tattoo removal, benign pigmented lesions, acne scars, and wrinkles
Picosecond platform
The PicoWay is the only picosecond platform cleared for all four wavelengths in tattoo removal. The 730 nm wavelength — the first of its kind — was introduced specifically for blue and green pigments that older lasers could not reliably address. Your operator assesses each tattoo before selecting the wavelength sequence for that session.

FAQs
Which laser is right for my skin tone?
1
Both platforms cover Fitzpatrick I through VI. For hair removal, your operator will select the 755 nm Alexandrite or 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength based on your Fitzpatrick type — deeper tones are treated with Nd:YAG to minimize surface absorption. For tattoo removal, wavelength is determined by ink color and skin type together. This is assessed at your consultation.
Why do you use Candela specifically?
2
Candela's GentleMax Pro and PicoWay are among the most studied platforms in their respective categories, with published clinical data and FDA clearance for the indications we treat. The equipment matters less than the operator behind it — but we chose platforms with a consistent track record and strong manufacturer support.
Can the PicoWay remove all tattoo colors?
3
The PicoWay covers the widest color range of any cleared picosecond system, including the 730 nm wavelength for blue and green — historically resistant to treatment. No laser guarantees complete clearance of every color or ink type, and results depend on ink density, age, and your immune response. Your operator will set realistic expectations at consultation.
Is there a consultation before my first session?
4
Yes. Every new client starts with a consultation before any laser is used. Your operator reviews your skin type, treatment area, medical history, and goals. Parameters are documented and carried forward — you are not re-assessed from scratch at each session.
What does the DCD cooling system do?
The Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) on the GentleMax Pro delivers a short cryogen spray milliseconds before each laser pulse. This cools the surface of the skin to protect the epidermis while the laser energy targets the follicle below. It is part of the device, not an add-on — it fires with every pulse.
